Rick Birdsall--Pro

Rick Birdsall, Tactical Shit's first pro shooter, began shooting in 2007 and has been competing since 2010. He competed in his first major 3-Gun match, CMMG, the following year and quickly rose to the ranks of professional shooters.

When asked about his strengths as a shooter, during an interview with 3-Gun Nation, he replied:

“I would say that my greatest strength is my mental game. I’m traditionally very cerebral during a course of fire. Even when an initial plan falls apart or issues arise, I’m able to deal with them accordingly. My ability to think on my feet allows me to quickly deal with many different contingencies, if required. This is a bit of a double-edged sword, however, because it can cause me to become too deliberate during a course of fire, which can cost valuable time in a Pro Series match.”

To new shooters, he says:

“There are two important points to make to new shooters. First, get out there and shoot! If you give it a try I can almost guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Your first match will help you identify what gear you still need and what skills to focus on in your next practice session. The second piece of advice is simply: don’t be afraid to ask questions. The shooting community is very open and friendly, so don’t be afraid to ask someone a question. Just make sure they aren’t next up to shoot the stage, and chances are they’ll be glad to answer any question you may have.”
