The EOG Gen2 NVG Counterweight is the latest version of the popular first generation weight bag.  However, this one has a few new features.  Retained is the sewn-on hook patch that allows you Velcro it directly to the helmet surface.  But, the Gen2 unit is a pouch with a separate lead shot “beanbag” removable insert.  Overall, this latest version takes up less surface area on the helmet and the weighted insert is more pliable than the original version.

The Gen2 NVG Counterweight provides some new functionality in that it can be used as a storage pouch on the back of the helmet.  The weighted insert can be removed and replaced with various small mission essential equipment that allows you to hold functional items rather than simple weight.
